Homemade Organic Apple Sauce

20130622-174716.jpgI purchased an extra 20 lbs of Fuji apples from Azure Standard this year just to try making applesauce.  We ate a 20 lb box, and then started eating on my second “applesauce” box before I finally was brave enough to make my first canned food ever.  I had five jars who didn’t seal on my first batch, because I was leaving too much headspace in the jars, but the rest all sealed beautifully.  The kids had some of the fresh sauce for dinner, and they liked it, so we shouldn’t have any problem using what I have made.

For my next batch of applesauce I want to try No-Peel Canned Applesauce using the Vitamix.   I didn’t want to get too adventurous on my first batch but I like the idea of not peeling 20 lbs of apples and the added nutrition of the peel.
