Robinson Self-Teaching Homeschool Curriculum

After having begun homeschooling using to the best of my ability the classical educational approach laid out in The Well Trained Mind, by Bauer and Wise, I am trying out the Robinson Curriculum this year.

I have always had younger children to attend to while homeschooling, so I have already moved my kids toward self-teaching as they became proficient readers.  I am inspired to see what the kids are capable of accomplishing beyond what is expected for their grade.  Focusing on reading, writing, and arithmetic will free me to relax a little about their core proficiencies and add fun electives as time permits.

My select electives this year are CBS for Bible, Veritas Press Scholars Academy self paced courses for history (this is half of our reading time), Rosetta Stone for Spanish, and select memory work using Classical Conversations memory work CDs.

We are using our Kindles for all the reading for Robinson Curriculum and my primary use for the Robinson Curriculum CDs is the book list and printable vocabulary words and definitions for each book.  I found the current edition curriculum used on eBay for $40.

For my under seven years old kids I am just going to concentrate on reading, penmanship, and math facts.

Now if I could only simplify the rest of my life.  The greatest threat to the best is the good, and there are so many good things in life.
