Canning Venison, raw packed, cubed or strips. So easy.

This is my next adventure in canning.  It will be a first for canning with a pressure cooker, but the recipe couldn’t be easier.  Just raw meat and salt.  I can’t wait to see how tender the meat is when it is time to cook with it.  Apparently canned venison comes out like slow cooked roast- fall apart tender, and it won’t spoil if there is a power outage.

When You Turn the TV Off…

You find rest and so much more. This Sunday, while I am busy about the house, the kids are playing chess, reading a book, and napping . Even my husband is getting a well deserved nap. I forgot the Texans game came on at 3:30 and so did everyone else . We are mostly fans of the free Slushies at Sonic every Tuesday after a win anyway. I created a complete meal plan and activity schedule Saturday so I am pretty relaxed about the week ahead. I find my rest in allowing the Holy Spirit to guide me and still my heart which He makes to overflow with thankfulness.

Safety Light for Kid’s Bikes

As we were driving home from church this morning we saw the usual stream of cyclist out on their route down Hwy 90, and I couldn’t help but notice among them were a few daylight safety lights.  I wasn’t even driving and I couldn’t keep myself from looking when one went by.  Upon further reflection, I decided to buy them for the kids.  I think they will be more effective than their helmets in keeping them safe (of course the helmets will still be worn).
